The Lariat’s 15.5-inch portrait-orientation touch screen is easy to use, and the center stack has conventional controls for features including audio and climate control. The cab is largely identical to the standard F-150, that is to say: huge, comfortable and well laid out. The F-150 Lightning drives like an F-150, only better in nearly every way.

Charging times at the faster 150 kW/400 volt current available at many DC fast chargers also vary between the two batteries. The XLT and Lariat fully charge at 240V in 10.1 hours, the Platinum in 9.3. The XLT, Lariat and Platinum have a 131 kWh battery, 580 horsepower and 775 pound-feet of torque.
The Lightning XLT starts at $52,974, followed by the $67,474 Lariat and $90,874 Platinum. Charging time gets shorter as prices rise. The rest of the Lightning model line’s prices and power increase. The Pro’s two electric motors deliver 480 hp and 775 pound-feet of torque.

The EPA estimates the Pro can go 230 miles on a charge and takes 11.9 hours to charge from zero to 100% from the 240 volt connection most EV owners will use to charge overnight. The Lightning Pro is a work truck that comes with a 98 kWh lithium-ion battery. All prices exclude a $1,795 destination charge. Price vs.I tested a loaded F-150 Lightning Lariat. The Extended Range battery pack costs $10,000 on both the XLT and Lariat versions of the F-150 Lightning it's standard on the Platinum and not available on the Pro. The Standard Range pack claims a driving range of 230 miles, and the Extended Range, which is optional on all models except the Platinum, is claimed to have a driving range of up to 300 miles. When comparing XLT crew-cab versions, the Lightning will be considerably more than an XLT 4WD with the V-6 ($45,500) and a few thousand more than an XLT model with the optional hybrid drivetrain ($49,995).įord says that the Lightning will offer two different battery-pack sizes. That base version has a 3.3-liter V-6 engine with 290 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque, which pales in comparison with the base Lightning's 426 hp and 775 pound-feet. But the top Lariat and Platinum trim levels will reach much higher, with the Platinum starting at a whopping $92,569.Īll Lightnings will come with all-wheel drive and a crew cab, so by our approximation the most equivalent gasoline model is the 2021 F-150 XL SuperCrew 4WD with a short bed, which costs $41,855. The base Lightning, which is intended for commercial customers, will start at $41,669, and the XLT will start at $54,669. Similarly, the base price that Ford has announced for the new electric version of the F-150, the 2022 Lightning, is only part of the story. The existing gasoline version of the Ford F-150 starts just above $30,000, but that sum is hardly representative of the broad range of models available.
